10-year anniversary for the Neonatal Nutrition & Gastroenterology Working Group

In October 2024 it was the 10-year anniversary for the Neonatal Nutrition & Gastroenterology Working Group within the Swedish Neonatal Society (https://neo.barnlakarforeningen.se/).

Since its formation in 2014 the working group has organized a number of courses and training sessions and written and revised several guidelines including on Nutritional intake, Breastmilk management, Hypoglycemia, Osteopenia, Probiotics, Iron supplements, Vitamin K prophylaxis, Multivitamin drops and Newborns with long-term Parenteral nutrition/intestinal failure.

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary the group had an in-person meeting in Stockholm on 23 October where among other items on the agenda were updates to hypoglycemia recommendations, zink supplementation, updates from ongoing studies, new EU regulation on breastmilk banks, a potential new RCT on DHA/ARA supplementation in extremely preterm infants and decisions regarding which care programs/guidelines to next draft and/or review.

The half-day meeting was followed by a celebratory dinner in the evening.

Current members of the working group are:
