Preterm research workshop 16 September 2024

The N4 research group had their annual workshop on research relating to preterm infants at a conference venue in Umeå on Monday 16 September 2024.

Prof Magnus Domellöf arranged the workshop and the participants consisted this year of three PhD students, a psychologist, a post doc, a neonatology nurse and two research nurses.

Participants at the workshop were: Magnus Domellöf, Stina Alm, Sara Olivecrona, Malin Bergman-Papworth, Erik Domellöf, Itay Zamir, Frida Sundström, Marie Lindvall, and Gunilla Strinnholm.

PhD student Sara presented on her ongoing neurofilament light asphyxia study, as well as the use of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) in the GRANDIOSA trial.
PhD student Malin gave an update from the INSPIRE pilot study as well as information about the INSPIRE RCT about to start.
Post doc Itay presented updates from ongoing glucose studies, and psychologist Erik talked about the ‘Brain and vascular development project’, a study on young adults born preterm.

The morning also included and update from Magnus and research nurses Marie and Gunilla on the N-Forte, PEPS and FIT-PIV studies.

During the afternoon session there was practical work on the different projects – planning, statistical analysis, and manuscript writing.

“As usual, the workshop was very rewarding and the number of preterm/neonatal research projects has never been greater” said Prof Magnus Domellöf, host of the workshop.
The workshop on preterm research topics has been an annual tradition for six years now.
