We are happy to announce that over 8000 families are now in the NorthPop study!
Now approximately 24 000 individuals (mothers, partners and children) participate in this large collaborative project between Region Västerbotten and Umeå University.
The study covers the whole of Västerbotten and our goal is 10 000 participants – so the finish line is soon in sight!
The purpose of the study is to find previously unknown factors that can reduce the risk of commonly occurring diseases in children. We collect answers from questionnaires as well as blood samples, urine samples, saliva samples, stool samples and breast milk samples. The health data that NorthPop collects helps lay a solid foundation for research. Our hope is that the results can be used for more effective preventive treatments.
”We are now entering the final stage to reach our goal of 10 000 participating families,” says Prof Magnus Domellöf, principal investigator in NorthPop.
“We would like to extend a big thank you to all the families and employees who make it possible to carry out the NorthPop study” says Prof Christina West, head of research at NorthPop.
