We are happy to announce that over 9000 families are now included in the NorthPop study! Approximately 27,000 individuals (mothers, partners and children) participate in this large collaborative project between Region Västerbotten and Umeå University. The study covers the whole of Västerbotten county and the goal is 10 000 participants – so the finish line is now very much in sight!
The purpose of the study is to find previously unknown factors that can reduce the risk of commonly occurring diseases in children. We collect answers to survey questions as well as blood samples, urine samples, saliva samples, stool samples and breast milk samples. The health data that NorthPop collects helps lay a solid foundation for research. Our hope is that the results can be used for more effective preventive treatments.
A big thank you to everyone who works with us and an extra thanks to everyone who participates in the study!
