We have now published the primary outcome from the Supplementing Iron and Development in Breastfed Infants (SIDBI) study in the prestigious journal JAMA Pediatrics. The study shows that daily low-dose iron supplementation between 4 and 9 months did not improve psychomotor development in breastfed infants. Our study is likely to result in a re-evaluation of the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.
